the Value Factory Academy
Exhibition and Working Space for 5th Shenzhen/Hong Kong Biennale
The Value Exchange Between the Virtual and Real.
The VF Academy locates in the Main Hall of Venue A, 5th Shenzhen/Hong Kong Biennale. The creative curator wants to convert the nine empty rooms into a working space for the students of the Academy. Basically, there are two main functions of this place: the working space when occupation and the scene as part of the exhibition when empty.
We propose to use the furniture to symbolically represent the program transformation of the academy departments and the exhibition, so as to accommodate the multi-functions. We extract the icons, the 2D plans of these furnitures, paint them on the walls and the floors, aim to indicate the real function of these rooms.
While education programs are physically embedded in the department, the lines on the ground will be covered by real furnitures. The virtual becomes real at that moment. Each department will be arranged in a semi-manufactured status with unfinished furniture installations. Activities make values for the space.
In this sense, A transformation between virtual and real appears according to the user’s occupation and the furniture’s movement. Meanwhile, flexible furniture system also provides possibilities for the variety education programs of the Academy.

第五届深港双城双年展 / 展览和工作空间
价值在虚拟和现实之间交换。
价值工厂学院位于第五届深港双年展的A馆机械大厅内。双年展创意总监希望利用大厅地下一层的九间开敞房间作为价值工厂学院的办公和学生工作空间。基本上这个空间承载了两个功能：当学院启动时作为学生和工作坊的工作空间；和当空置时，整个空间可以作为双年展机械大厅展览的一部分。
因此，我们提议了利用办公家具作为使用功能和虚拟展览的一种转换媒介，来完成这两个复合功能需求。我们提取了每一个功能房间所需求的办公家具，并抽象成二维的图像，喷涂在每个房间的地面和墙面上，用来表明该空间所承载的使用功能。
当该空间被学院的日常工作坊和学生们所使用时，办公家具会按照已经喷涂的标识摆放出来；当房间空置时，大部分办公家具会被收纳起来，余下的部分自然成了展览的一部分，暗示着该空间的实际用途。
在这里，一个从虚拟到现实的转换，随着使用者的介入和家具的移动被很好地呈现出来，这个提议同样也可以更好地发挥价值工厂学院这一个特殊空间的自身价值。家具的灵活移动同时也为学院中不同的教学和研究工作坊提供了变化的可能性。
